We are very fortunate in the South Island of New Zealand to have so many sites of geological interest. One of my favourites is Castle Hill. It's an hour and a half from Christchurch so you need at least 6 hours to enjoy it. You also need a reasonable level of fitness as the paths are quite rough. #Ngaitahu is the local iwi in Te Waipounamu, the South Island, and their ancestors are honoured by some beautiful sculptures.
